But my AirPod mics suck so bad. So.
What if you just wear the earbuds? Okay, I don't want to because then I have to put it in like through my hijab or under my hijab and then the mic will get like... No Billy today? He'll be sent a recording. I don't feel like waiting for Isabella any longer, so we can get started. You guys can introduce yourself because we have Sophia here today.
Hi, Sophia. I'm Sophia. We have two other people here too so I don't really know how you want to know this is your meeting so you do your thing. Okay, you guys should all introduce yourselves.
Hi, my name is Hattie. I am the project manager of Formula SAE this year, Titan 19. My name is Garrick Yamamoto, and I'm a marketing person on the Formula Team. Marketing. Marketing lead on the Formula Team. Hi, I'm Jared Warren. I am the technical lead this year.
Sophia, do you want to introduce yourself and what major you are? Hi, I'm Sophia and my major is Marketing and Business Analytics. Thank you, yeah. I have a question for you. I do this, everyone that does it, that comes in this program, I have to do it. Mel's already mad at me, if you can see right there.
Now has the steam coming out of her ears too. That's how mad she is. But what is your dream in life?
Like career or like in general? You tell me. My dream is... To live a peaceful life?
Career-wise, to make a lot of money so I can rest peacefully. I'll take that. Straight to the point. I respect it. All right. What's your dream big man? The opposite. I like chaos. Career-wise, I do something in marketing regarding sports, fashion, and cars.
Are we doing?
Had to ask. Sorry. It's my thing. It's like, you know,
Yeah, I guess I'll introduce myself again since I don't think, yeah, I don't think we saw you last time. My name is Melanie. I'm an accounting major at Fullerton. I just transferred. And I'm trying to figure out this like accounting stuff for FSE because I realized there was an opportunity here and why not?
Could be some cool experience. No, no, no. I basically have the same description as you but my name is me Muna. I'm also an accounting major. And My dream is to also make a lot of money and do art on the side.
Oh, I'm so happy. I'm so glad you know my name. Share with the class. Do I have to share with the class again? Yes, sure. My dream is to work as a race engineer in Formula One. So, Jerry's dream is to live in New Zealand and have him in New York. So, what would that be like for him?
All right, Melody, it's all you. All right, so I recall like last time when you were, when Jared was showing us the notion, you guys kind of had an onboarding slide. Do you want to like skim over that, like go through that, like terminology, like basic stuff we should know? Jared's going to pull it up right now. So cool.
that you're in the Zoom meeting. You know, who could have thought of that?
Can you guys hear him through my mic? Not really. If you come closer, I'll come closer. Oh, I can hear you. So this is our dashboard. Let me send a link in the chat so everyone can see it. I think it already is. Oh, it's in the Discord too. It's in the Discord too, but I'll just send it here.
This is our Going over it real quick. It has everything in their dashboard. So if I go click on to chassis. You can see the roster who's on the team, the projects are working on, and the tasks that they have going on.
That goes for every sub team. If you scroll to the bottom of this, there's the master list. This is just a general calendar of all of our meetings right now. This is the page that Mel was talking about, is our onboarding. So you can see our team structure and our sub team. So Patty is our project manager and our chief engineer.
We have our sub teams here and the names in the parentheses are all our leads.
Also is just important locations like the shop, like we say, is E21. And then the other room you might find us in is our machine shop, which is across the way. It's room E3. Can you guys hear him? Okay, just want to make sure. I can. Okay, just want to make sure. Going down, you can go ahead and click through this. This is just like some engineering terminology.
This one really pertains to you guys. This is the one that is more. Okay. This one's more technical. Like our senior design team, our structure, rules of safety, how we get underclassmen involved. Basically our outreach presentation. And this is just important links like our discord, our interest form, and then our meeting times. Something I set up.
Pretty much this summer. Going back to the home page. I did just create a dashboard for you guys. I will share access to this once I get everyone's contact. Feel free to scroll through it. Tell me what you like, don't like. I tried my best, but I am still an engineer. Don't worry, I'll have a list. Just kidding.
And then there's the English part.
All right, this is the same one you put in the server, right? Yes, correct. Okay, that's fine.
This is going to be important to our Dropbox. This is probably where you'll see all of Patty's purchases. Literally a folder called Patty's P.O.s, where she spends all our money. Okay, the girls have got to spend it, you know, you know, but yeah, that's our, our file sharing below that is all previous years.
Some years have some good documentation on business structure, some don't. I can't tell you which ones do or don't. Which teams were good at business and which weren't, so I can lead you in that direction. This is kind of like the first year we've actually tried reaching out with you guys in the business honor society. Like it's been always a common trend to just kind of like DIY it and just do it yourself and just see what happens. And we've been very unfortunate.
When he showed this, we told our advisor, and he was like, this is the first time this has happened. Like, it's quite sad. You guys are so organized. It's to a T, I would say. So yeah, it's just like we're trying our best to change everything and like it's been nice having Jared and like being the more organized one of the group and so it's quite nice.
Oh, if this sub team is spending this much money, then it's about this much percentage of our total, because I believe our total budget is like 20, 20,000. So yeah, we got approved for 20. And we're having around 8,000 in philanthropy, which we want to save for anything that's really important. We need it right now. Recording in progress.
And this is our Gantt chart too. You can see, by task, the timeline for everything. So this will help you experiment and see when deadlines are due. Connect with the project for everything. I don't know why it's not working.
There you go. So you can see when a project will start, when it should finish, that kind of thing. And everything I try to relate to each sub-team. And each person is definitely responsible for each part.
So Koa and I, Koa is not here, but he is a civil engineer. But so he created a spreadsheet and I was just over there and helping him with it. We're really going to start cracking down on these subteams to really start filling it out for us so that we are able to be more precise and more clean with how we're doing things and make sure we're making sure we're not
Late on anything and in that sheet you got several filters, it'll talk about things. It's every order and it'll say if it's received if it's been ordered or if it's In the process of being ordered, I believe it was. I mean, they all started with Qs and Receipts. Yeah, he basically made his own procurement system of how all the orders are going to go.
As a calendar for posts, that way you can jot down ideas, get assets, and things like that. We can talk more about that in a meeting on Thursdays. So, yeah, but just seeing what we can figure out together and how we can get everyone accessible. To entice the accounting personnel here. I do have a connection with Deloitte.
Telling other people about it, kind of expanding and growing. That is a possible possibility, so, yeah. Can you explain that again? The Deloitte would act as a sponsorship, but it's also as a way for you guys to possibly get internship experience with Deloitte.
My friend told me Deloitte does a lot of intern opportunities here at Cal State Fullerton. It's more for the business side of things for us as a sponsorship to get money. But it also could be a way for you, like if they sent a representative to kind of check on to see where their money's going. If you guys are in the building, you can kind of put a name to the face and kind of get that like.
All right, so you do have like four people for marketing. Yeah, yes, but okay. Oh, wait, no, no, hold on. To be honest with you, we're exploring new options. So if that makes any sense. So we haven't really been happy with what they've been doing. It's kind of just been him.
So, um, let's be honest with ourselves, but they just opened the website and they're pretty much off. But like, um, To be honest, everything outreach-wise, sponsorship-wise, has been done by him. So the people that we actually have on our team currently, they were rock solid. Jared, I might need your input on this one too, but they have been rock solid for about two weeks.
Our current marketing team. They have been rock solid for about two weeks. Showed up to meetings, did everything, and then we haven't seen them since. And we're supposed to have weekly Thursday meetings, and they have.
And here's what's left. So I am looking for a newer and better team and I don't care how you guys want to structure that. I don't care how you guys want to structure the business team. It talks about however you guys want to do it. Is there anyone who previously was in the marketing team and is still interested in joining the new marketing team?
Besides Derek. But it's literally so and him and I went, we went window shopping for sponsors on Tuesday of during the break. We literally went door-to-door and we were talking to people and we got one potential person and then and we have this company called Sparko which they're pretty
They're pretty good. I mean, they're not pretty good. They're like denaming brand of racing for harnesses, hard, not hard, right? Harnesses, anything clothing, the race suits, the helmets, the shoes. They're the name brand. Like if any, any big person in racing, like actual motorsport, they know Sparco. So we, we kind of got them on a 20% off deal.
You were in there for a minute. You were talking, I was just sitting behind the monitor. To go back to what I was saying, the marketing team, as a team, has not been doing much. It's just been him. So, really trying to expand on that. So, he doesn't have to do it alone.
One of the former CMIs, the director, he didn't have too much of a direction either. Like you don't need to know about racing at all by any means but I do think if you're going to be a leader, it helps a little bit to understand just a little bit, just to understand like the basics of what formula racing is how you should do verbiage and kind of what formula.
F1 is essentially the pinnacle of racing. So just a basic understanding of that. It's not necessary, but if you're going to be a leader, I do think it is kind of warranted in terms of marketing. Accounting wise, I can't speak on that. I did my basics, so I can't speak on that. But marketing wise, I do think if you're going to want to be a leader, just kind of understanding what racing is. You don't need to understand what an engine or parts of an engine, but
Just understanding how to represent a race to you, what race it is. And if you don't know, I'm more than happy to help you and I'm sure you will. Oh yeah, I was going to ask if we wanted to learn more, what resources you can provide in like some way. To have, not a need to have. It's a, yeah, it's a nice to have. So like, if you go talk about like...
Also, the Excel that you guys have, that can be shared with us too, right? So we can kind of see the... Yeah, we can share that with you. Okay, yeah. We can add... We can add code to that business side too, right? Yep. OK. That's not pretty. Perfect.
And then, so just to clarify, for accounting, like, based on what you said last time, in case there's anything you want to add on, it's going to be like, The bookkeeping, cost report, the business presentation, and, like, booking stuff towards, like, competition time, or is that, like, the broad? Alright.
I care more so on the fact that you care about marketing. Because, like you guys heard me say, racing and cars isn't the only field that I want to work in. But I am passionate about marketing and I have been since I was like 10 years old. So, I'm being serious. Beats by Dre. But yeah, no, so what we're looking for is people interested in marketing who want to kind of develop the skills of social media or just like
Sponsorship procurements, learning how to reach out to companies in a professional manner, how to create Instagram posts, reels, carousels that don't just depict what we're doing, but tell a story, whether it be through the caption or whether it be through the carousel itself.
We don't want to just put photos on posts. and not have any kind of editing or design to it. Yes, that's okay sometimes, but we really want to be able to show the characteristic of our team, whether it be through the colors, through the background of some sort.
So in regards to our sponsorships, yes, we do go in person, but it's only for local businesses. So I'm born and raised in Fullerton. I know a lot of the business owners in Fullerton, downtown Fullerton, just because of my family's connections. So it's like, I'll reach out to them personally, go in, give like a good face to name, because
Although reaching out in mass e-mails is good because it's free, it doesn't take a lot of time, copy and paste is great. But having that personal touch. Especially when it's like Fullerton, where pretty much everyone knows everyone in a sense, and everyone's always willing to support the city of Fullerton. It adds a little bit of like that personal touch that a lot of people like.
Oh, this seems to be like a key opportunity for sponsorship. Why don't we go in person? A few of the companies that we're really looking at right now is Yamaha. Yamaha.
So, we use Yamaha motors, Yamaha engines. So, if you are not familiar, Yamaha recently opened a new headquarters off of 91. So, my ideal plan was to take Hadi and Jerry and a few of our powertrain guys. to see if they would be willing to sponsor us, either monetarily or by giving us a discount. So it's really picking and choosing. Obviously, if it's not close to Fullerton, I'm not going to tell you to go.
I would like to say it's more organized. Obviously with more people, it's gonna get better. Like I said, I use OneNote to create all my organizations, like all my ideas and brainstorming. So I have ideas with those pretty much throughout the winter break, so.
Like I said, we were planning to do a fundraiser on the week of finals for BOBA at Seven Leagues. And like, so the deadline to kind of post that, get that organized. It would have been like end of this week or next week. We'll see based on what I mean with the rest of the team Thursday to see where they're at with it. Or when I say team, the rest of the people who show up.
And then we also had the thought of a K1 Speed fundraiser the first weekend, winter break, as a winter break bash, kickoff, winter break bash type of thing. Developing posters to post on our socials, to actually organizing and setting it up. We have had verbal confirmation that someone would try. We haven't had any kind of... Verbal confirmation someone won't try.
Exactly. Okay. And then, in terms of other deadlines, so they're not hard set deadlines, or they are hard set. So, over the winter break. We're going to be posting about the team. We're going to be introducing the team. So what I would ask if anyone was to go to join me and the social media team is start reaching out to sub teams in terms of
I wanted to make a carousel of every sub-team. So every week starting on winter break we're going to introduce a sub-team and every member of that sub-team is going to get their own slide kind of telling them where they're from, their major and everything and it's going to have their head professional headshot as well as one or two lifestyle orders.
And I already have the backgrounds that we'll be using. I've already created them on Illustrator and all that. So I have those all set. They're pretty much just like blueprints of cars. And we'll just figure out how to layer them. Make it look pretty and nice. Other than that, this is the only kind of,
Deadlines, sponsorship deadlines. There's really no sponsorship deadline. We get whatever you can, whenever. Obviously, sooner the better. We're looking specifically for money and monetary. Not discounts. Discounts are nice. We can get what we want. Beggars can't be choosers. The goal is to get what we want.
Money, specifically cash, if we can get cash or we can get a check, that will be the greatest thing on this planet. Even if it's $5, like any sort of money, it's just great. Because that means we can spend it on anything. We do have to go through approvals and everything like that, but we got a lot of discounts, which is nice, but we are just really lacking in the.
Okay, I have one more question. So like you said like the Thursday meeting is at 11.30, but actually. Like, I think me and Isabel have class on that time. So like, do you think like any other, like, or like we can talk about it later? So Thursdays I'm literally there till like two or three. So pretty much I'm here every day now. What we could do too is since that
This is something else I wanted to talk about now. We can also just take this Thursday meeting at 11.30 and throw out the window because we only did that time because the person that was running the program at the time won at 11.30. We can always change the meeting time. It doesn't have to be 1130. We can make a when to meet if you want.
go from there. Um, and ma you do 30 minutes here, w the whole time that we're And then they go, you do the work alone, and then you come and showcase it. Like, it doesn't need to be a long meeting. It could be like a little catch up. It can be something like that. It's really.
All right. Can't hate me more than I hate myself. But, so, so basically, So basically, we have the car, we know what we need to do this year. So our focus this year is making sure that we have a consistent powertrain system that includes drivetrain. Any sort of intake, exhaust, anything like that, we're good on that, because we had a really big problem with that last year. Another thing we had a problem with last year was our frame.
and our electrical. When I tell you that our electrical system failed, it started smoking. We've hit the kill switch on the car at Tech, or Technical Inspection. Clicked it and it started smoking to the point where I even looked at the judge and I went it does that by design and He started laughing and he was like, can you unclick it? And I was like
No, no, no, it just stops the car. We don't need to turn back on, you know, and he just, you know, sent us back to the pit, but we had to fix it. But so a lot of our money is going into that, our frame and electrical. Sorry, um, they really didn't like our frame comp last year. So we're trying to fix that. So kind of suspension and arrow are kind of the two sub teams that were kind of
We know what you guys need. We know what we can spend on you guys. And that's kind of it. For Arrow, we normally get all of our stuff from one or two... My bad, like three or four different manufacturers. So there's like a sealant company. There's a, like a bagging company. There's a lot of like little things that we get. Our big one is called Axiom.
Axiom is our main sponsor for all of our carbon fiber, everything like that. And they just throw it at us. So when I literally like, we had 52 boxes of carbon fiber. Last year, sitting outside our door, and they gave it to us for free. So we had so much of it, we just started giving it away to different schools. So
I didn't want to wait and just see like, oh, like we're low on money. I just, I just went for it. So, um, and then they told again, like the school kind of gave me the impression, like. Hey, you're gonna have like $30,000. And then I was at home just hanging out, got an email from the school on a Friday saying, Hey, your budget's 20,000. And I was like,
They just slashed our budget by one-third, so I got in the car, I drove to school, and I had a conversation with them. I was like, what happened? So, just stuff we're working with right now. So, a lot of it... For the accounting side, it's just understanding what the needs are. So I kind of just told you what the needs are. So I think we spend close to 20 percent. We have spent around 25 percent of the budget.
And it was 5,500. So I was getting around like 20, 26 percent. Add the percent. About only, I believe... 18,000, or probably 18% of that whole 21 has been recorded in our Excel sheet. So we're still trying to find out who hasn't uploaded their orders or their purchases.
So in the future, we'd be in charge of that and pestering the people not uploading stuff. I'll pester them. We'll pester them. We'll just talk over to you guys. Something I've realized about some engineers don't really, they're coming up engineer, yeah, starting up engineers, they
About the hat. So yeah, so basically I write a PO I want this hat. Okay, I got to give it to my advisor. And my advisor signs off on it, which normally takes about a week because he does not at all respond to me. So then I get his approval and then I submit a Google form.
And then that Google form goes to the office and then, and I Google, I don't know why I did that, but like the Google form then goes to the office, they buy it and then they have their own lead times. I don't even know when it gets ordered. I don't know when it gets shipped. I don't know when it gets delivered. I don't know any of that stuff. COA has helped me with that bridge so we can help you guys too with your orders as well.
7 letters, 7 lines. Or 7 words. 7 words, 7 lines, 7 lines. This PowerPoint is boring sometimes. Do you guys have any... Do you have a question or anything guys? I just wanted to make sure so the business team wouldn't be going with you to the competition. So, good news. I'll have allocated four spots.
But, um, so yeah, but uh, for marketing. I don't know if you wanted to maybe you could like send the one note for the marketing people who are interested in like if it has like deadlines or what the plan is. for the end of the year. If someone is interested, I mean, I can just, if you send me the email, I can share it. Like they'd only be able to view it, but pretty much what it is and how I work with my Webinar is.
There's always going to be a way to kind of spin the directives to make it look good. So yeah, marketing-wise, I could share the OneNote for sure, but they wouldn't be able to edit it just because if someone's going to edit my OneNote, I want to first meet them kind of.
Kind of make sure they are not eligible to use my OneNote, but just to kind of like, kind of, you know, weed them out. Does that make sense? Kind of just make Make sure that they kind of understand it. It really makes sense. It's really helpful. Yeah. I'll definitely send it out. I'll give it to Addy and Addy can give it to...
